Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation, also known as augmentation mammaplasty, is a cosmetic procedure done to enhance breast size and appearance. Prosthetic implants are placed to create fuller breasts or to restore volume lost after pregnancy or weight loss. After having breast augmentation, most women gain a better body image and self- confidence. If breasts and nipples need to be restored to a higher position on the chest, a breast lift (ie: mastopexy) can also be performed. Waiting a few months between mastopexy and breast augmentation procedures usually offers the best cosmetic result.
Breast Reduction
Breast reduction surgery, also known as reduction mammaplasty, is performed for women with very large breasts. Women who are considering breast reduction surgery usually are troubled by back and/or neck pain, skin irritation, and bra strap grooving due to the excessive weight of their breasts. With breast reduction surgery, the excess skin and breast tissue is surgically removed, making the breasts smaller, lighter, and firmer. The size of the areola (the darker skin surrounding the nipple) can also be reduced. Most women undergoing breast reduction surgery are relieved and very satisfied after the procedure.
Breast Lift
A breast lift, also known as a mastopexy, is a cosmetic procedure done to return sagging breasts to their previous, youthful location and appearance. Many women discover that after pregnancy and nursing that their breasts have lost their fullness and perkiness. This can occur also with weight loss or aging. A mastopexy can restore the breasts and nipples to a higher position on the chest. If further volume is desired, an augmentation with implants can be performed. Waiting a few months between mastopexy and breast augmentation procedures usually offers the best cosmetic result.
Breast Reconstruction
Breast reconstruction surgery is performed in women who have lost a portion or all of one or both of their breasts due to cancer or trauma. Reconstruction surgery can be performed immediately following the mastectomy procedure, or it can also be performed even years after the original surgery.
Male Breast Reduction
Gynecomastia is the enlargement of normal breast tissue in males. While there are many medical causes of gynecomastia, sometimes it occurs without any underlying medical reason. Gynecomastia can cause a significant amount of psychological distress and emotional discomfort for men. Fortunately, the excess breast tissue can be surgically removed.
